Someone help me out here

BiggestLewbowski December 7, 2011 at 4:42 pm

My computer is working now but should I be worried since I updates the bios?

DeeJayEndo December 7, 2011 at 5:18 pm

Hey Everyone, If you’re following this video SKIP STEP ONE – DO NOT UPDATE YOUR BIOS. While this is recommended by Native Instruments to update your BIOS, a lot of people are having problems after updating their BIOS, so I recommend not to do it unless you know what your doing.

BiggestLewbowski December 7, 2011 at 6:10 pm

I just updated my bios on my Dell and during the reboot would not completely start up. I checked the comments after that and all I see is DO NOT UPDATE bios. Super.

It has finally turned on normally but should I still be worried? Should I even go through with the rest of the advice on this video?

I just got my Dell xps laptop back and I have USB dropouts now. Trying to fix the problem but I don’t wanna fuck it up more.

DeeJayEndo December 7, 2011 at 6:44 pm

@IEatHarlots Thank you for pointing this out. I just contacted Dubspot and asked them to put a warning in the video so people don’t go updating their BIOS. The reason I put that in there is because it is recommended by Native Instruments to update your BIOS.

IEatHarlots December 7, 2011 at 7:12 pm

WARNING: DO NOT UPDATE YOUR BIOS. Chances are, you don’t know what you’re doing and WILL fry your computer. There is always a risk when updating your BIOS and it’s definitely not the easiest thing to do. Don’t risk your expensive computer

nothing new… my ableton problem still stays the same :(

wax83 December 7, 2011 at 8:40 pm

Pleae tell me which font type (& size) your system was set to, cause i’ve noticed that is much more readable and easy oon the eye than the default one!
Thank you very much for the useful video by the way!

8poundstar December 7, 2011 at 8:40 pm

Thank you so much for both videos. With the help of this video, I just stopped every problem I was having with my pc using virtual dj. I can now run six tracks at ultra low latency without one hiccup in sound (Went from 80 percent rom/ processor usage, to less then 5 percent).

CHRISDJS72 December 7, 2011 at 9:17 pm

Thanks did most of this apart from updating bios and going to dell web sight for driver updates and my laptop is running ableton live without a glitch using asio4all before i couldnt use some VSTs without it stuttering to the point of wanting to smash the thing up now its sweet as a nutt using 40 tracks big up the dubspot for these vids

whinchacha December 7, 2011 at 9:31 pm

duxiew December 7, 2011 at 10:03 pm

When i turned on latencymon its telling me that acpi driver for nt is affecting latency. it cannot be turned off in device manager. what now?

mrclarksmith December 7, 2011 at 10:58 pm

One word of advice, Skip the Bios Update, if you are not sure what you are doing.

CHOPPERSUlT December 7, 2011 at 11:19 pm

i was updating my bios and it caused my computer to brick.. i can’t even get it to turn on at the moment. i didn’t know that was going to happen. FML

LuvSoundz December 8, 2011 at 12:07 am

nathan2278 December 8, 2011 at 12:13 am

I only did a few of the steps listed while I watched and I can actually tell my laptop is running more smoothly by the end of this tutorial! Thank you so much.

To all commenting on Mac vs. PC, it’s absolutely a matter of preference, they’re very different animals. Mac is a closed, proprietary architecture. Therefore it is MUCH more expensive and requires less tweaking. Windows on the other hand runs on a HUGE range of PC hardware which is why it requires a little more tailoring depending on what you want to use it for (like audio). Since we’ve done a lot of mac vids at Dubspot we made this to show some love to our Windows user fans.

DJSpecialSauce December 8, 2011 at 1:29 am

Wow, and here I thought I made most of the adjustments possible. Turns out you have shown me a whole bunch more. Thank you

very nice presentation. I am new to Reason 5 and Record and I’m a babe in the woodsbut I love this software.

pitolove71 December 8, 2011 at 3:54 am

You know…for a studio professional & website that you have…you did a poor job at mixing or mastering the volume in this video. I have my equipment halfway up & I can barely hear you…

xray313 December 8, 2011 at 4:18 am

i was looking for tips but instead i am now scared of my studio due to that slight GHOST problem you have

RodCow December 8, 2011 at 6:39 am

@Wrakage Nice one.Happy I could help.

Wrakage December 8, 2011 at 7:35 am

@RodCow Hey RoCow, thanks a lot for the information. It was verry helpfull! Greets.

RodCow December 8, 2011 at 8:28 am

@Wrakage I don’t know the make or model but the term is ‘midi keyboard’ (stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface). You’ll need one to trigger the samples etc in Reason (although there are ways to do this without a midi keyboard it’s not the same).Nearly all home keyboards from about 1983 onwards have midi ins and outputs and if you have one of these already you’ll just need a midi interface which plugs into the back of the keyboard and into a usb port.

RodCow December 8, 2011 at 8:48 am

@CshinFrDaPshin Well R5 and PTools are two completely different animals.R5 is a sampler/sequencer prog and PT is a multi-track audio recorder(And while Reason is capable of recording and Protools is capable of sequencing stuff what most people would do is run Reason through ProTools so that Reason plays the samples but ProTools records the result)
If you must have just one or the other then you’ll be better off with R5 for mostly electronic music and PT for Guitar/Bass/Drums/Vc type stuff.

CshinFrDaPshin December 8, 2011 at 9:15 am

I saw another video on youtube he said pro tools is the industry standard meaning the most commonly used software. is Reason 5 any better than Pro Tools or just as good as Pro tools?

Wrakage December 8, 2011 at 10:14 am

Hello I’m new to making music, a total newbie, I already got me some software but it seems in many videos I see a keybord like I see in this video infront of the screen. Is that a necessary hardware to have? What is the name of it please. Thank you for the video, I might signe me up for the course, would it be a good progres in to my music making way in life?
