FL Studio
I don’t know how much it costs now but probably about $ 300. Don’t let the price tag fool you. It’s very professional if you know how to use it. I use to use Reason with Pro Tools, which cost me $ 2,500. When I had FL Studio I decided to use it most of the time. The sounds it comes with, like the instruments and drums, are not so great, but you can add your own and it’s an easy to use program.

^You can get FL Studio for free.
If you want the link, e-mail me.
It all depends on your needs, go try out each demo. There’s plenty out there.
Reaper
Ableton Live
Cubase
FL Studio
lots..
My personal favorite is also FL Studio. I’ve been using the Producer Edition for years now, keeps getting better.
You can get it with 10% discount with this promo link for new customers: https://support.image-line.com/jshop/shop.php?offer=Default&promo=BACJBAA468
Just make sure you get the right version. The demo is basically the same as the Producer Edition, except for some of the generators like Sytrus and Directwave that are only available in the Signature Bundle. You can compare the editions here: http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/editions.html
Also make sure to get some nice samples for your beats, here are some free ones:

And if you don’t mind spending a few bucks I’d recommend getting the excellent drum samples by Goldbaby, especially the MPC60 series are great for hip hop and rap: http://rekkerd.org/out/goldbaby
Good luck!
